One of my favourite stops in Scotland. Service at the restaurant was fantastic, the food absolutely delicious. Beautiful small town with great local shops. Also a stop for Outlander fans!
Hands down the best food we’ve ever had in a pub! You can really tell everything is homemade; the quality and flavour are on another level. Absolutely delicious and highly recommended
We stayed at the Covenanter for one night on our trip for our elopement/honeymoon as one of our “Outlander” sites. It was extremely cute and has a little bar downstairs. The staff was extremely welcoming and the town of Falkland around it is so quaint and friendly! Highly recommend if you are in the area.
Dear pal aged 84 was staying. Popped in to see him for a bite to eat. Had a child AND our dog with us. Super accommodating. Wife forgot the lead so they found one. Treats handed over. Lovely vibe. We ate kids fish and chips (proper panto breading and no salt added proves it was for kids). Offered warm milk instead of a fruit shoot too and because the wee man was well behaved he was given two quid for his piggy bank. Enchanted by a simple but lovely touch. Adults had a high quality rich lasagne, bangers and mash (trio of venison and two different pork sausages NOT from Brakes or Booker) and what looked an exceptional macaroni. Happy to box up a pudding for my wife and well, just the best spot for food in Edinburgh...
We visited the Covenanter Hotel in Falkland today for lunch, and it was a wonderful experience. The service was fast and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a cozy spot with great local flavors!
The building is definitely the star in this setup. The food was good. The village is nice an die to it's small size quickly explored (only the center of it though no surroundings). For outlander fans a very recognizable spot but you can enjoy it also without connection to the show
Dropped in today for lunch, food, staff and atmosphere 1st class. Well done to staff and owners, hard times for pub owners just now, these guys are delivering on all levels.
Great location, easy to get street parking. Found nearby spacious parking lot as an alternative. Quiet area, nice view but the dirty windows marred the view of the square (Outlander room). Accommodating with late check-in (the staff was working the bar). Nice bathroom. Easy to use TV for Netflix. Room was a little tight, couldn't open the door fully to get inside because it hit the bed. Bathroom towel rack may have been overheating the room, but we were able to figure out how to turn it off. Windows heavy to keep open for air. Great breakfast and dinner food came quickly. I had chicken and leek pie, sticky toffee pudding, and a passionfruit cocktail for dinner; pancakes with bacon for breakfast (breakfast included in the price). Limited staff was working the restaurant, bar, and lobby but still doing a good job. Server was unsure about menu items at dinner.
